A Letter from Ian Jameson
President of the Board of Directors - Idaho's Bounty Co-op
Dear Idaho's Bounty Members,
Idaho's Bounty has, for the past 7 years, maintained a focus on our mission to develop and promote a local, sustainable food system for the communities of Southern Idaho that ensures safe, consistent, fresh, ethically produced and delivered products direct from our producers. In maintaining that focus, it's safe to say that we've been constantly changing and evolving as a cooperative. From the introduction of wholesale accounts and expansion into the Treasure and Magic Valleys, Idaho's Bounty today looks quite different than it did 7 years ago.
If anything is certain, it will be that we look very different 7 years from now. We will maintain a focus on developing and promoting a local, sustainable food system. In doing so, we will continue to build relationships with the people in our communities, promote environmentally friendly agricultural practices, and create economic opportunity for farmers and food entrepreneurs. We've learned over time that the scale of this task is not small; getting affordable local food to consumers while promoting sustainable practices and profitability for producers requires a large network. Our cooperative model is well suited to accommodate such a network. The constant change that we've experienced won't slow down, but we can work to evolve our cooperative to meet the demands of the scale needed to create a sustainable local food system.
To do so, we've hired a General Manager with a background in cooperatives, sales, and a passion for local foods. TJ Stevens joined Idaho's Bounty from REI, where she managed a sales team and doubled sales to $11 million in her 10 years there. She also sits on the Board of the Boise Co-op and has volunteered at the Idaho Environmental Forum, The Treasure Valley Food Coalition, and presented at the National Cooperative Grocers Association. TJ is here to evolve our cooperative, and we are very excited about it.
